Farmer’s Cheeseburger

Farmer's Cheeseburger

Farmer's Fried Egg Cheeseburger

And now for something completely different…

I decided today was the day to do something completely different for today’s Lunch Special. And after my fellow employee comrades, okay, Bill, got done laughing at me for suggesting this as a special, I actually had to make them for the paying customers.

There were enough customers that ordered this burger that I can safely add it to my list of lunch specials I have to choose from, though the next time I do believe it would be even better with some bacon on top.

Not only did I enjoy the one I made for myself, it’s all so very simple to make. It is nothing more than a simple cheeseburger with a fried egg on top and all the normal fixings. I made these burgers with the eggs cooked over hard, but I would have no problem cooking the egg to order, unless of course they wanted the egg poached… that would be going just a little too far in my opinion!

Wyoming Highway 130 Closed, July 19, 2011

wyoming highway 130Tuesday, July 19, 2011 Wyoming Highway 130 update:

Wyoming highway 130 is closed for approximately a week or so. Apparently a portion of the road washed away when debris clogged a culvert and washed the road away on the Saratoga side of the range.

The road is closed between mile markers 36 through 68. I guess that means the gate is closed about 5 miles before Lake Marie at the base of the Snowy Range.

Sadly, there were also some fatalities when a vehicle drove into the abyss this morning.

July 4th in the Rockies

After a busy 4th of July shift in front of a hot grill, I decided to go for a hike and make good use of the remaining daylight and cool off a bit.

The hike started sunny and hot, but by the time I got to the destination I had in mind, the weather had changed considerably to lightning, thunder, rain, and a cold wind. Welcome to Wyoming… I should have brought my heavy shirt! Lets just say I cooled off a bit more than I was hoping to.

Here are a few photos of the trip, including photos of Independence Falls (fitting for Independence Day), Centennial as seen from Centennial Ridge, and a bonus sighting of a cow elk grazing in the cool afternoon rain. Enjoy. Continue reading

Wyoming Highway 130, Snowy Range – July 1, 2011

July 1st, 2011, and they don’t call them the Snowy Range mountains for nothing! Here are some photos I took this afternoon, hot from my camera to the web.

I thought I would drive up to Lake Marie to see how much snow had melted since my last visit on June 10th when they finally opened highway 130 to Saratoga. You can see some photos I took then by clicking here so you can compare them with the photos I took today.

I think it is a safe bet to say that there will still be plenty of snow left unmelted by the time the snow starts flying again in September.

Okay, here are the photos… Continue reading

Centennial Arts and Farmers Market

Centennial Arts and Farmers Market 2011

Centennial Arts and Farmers Market 2011

It’s that time of year again…

Time for the Centennial Arts and Farmers Market to sell their wares every Sunday from 11AM until 3PM starting this Sunday, June 26th and continuing through the September 4th, Labor Day weekend.

It’s located between the Mountain View Hotel and the Trading Post on Wyoming highway 130 in Centennial, Wyoming.

If you’re in the area, stop by and check it out! Check out their fine selection of organic food, fruits, vegetables, crafts and local specialties. I would even be willing to bet that you can find some great Tuber’s Tie Dyes for sale, all the local hippies wear them.

If you visit the market, feel free to leave a comment here and provide some information about what is sold and what you think of it.
